To the loyal readers of Octogenarian

This is being written by Mort's wife...

About 10 days ago Mort was severely injured while driving his car out of his garage.
He's had two back surgeries and has not regained mobility in one of his legs.
It will take months of rehab before he's back writing on his beloved blog.
I wanted to thank everyone for all of their wonderful comments over the years.
They have meant the world to him and you have brought much joy to his later years.
My family and I look forward to the day when he can return to working on his blog again.

  6. This is just dreadful news. Please convey my best wishes for a speedy recovery to Mort.

Thank you so much for letting us know, Sybil. I am sending good thoughts to Mort and you. I would appreciate the address of his rehab center so I can send him a card. You can e-mail it to me at: darcostner@yahoo.com.

If he would prefer not getting mail there I will understand.

  12. Dear Sybil, who I feel I know from Mort's writings about you, this is shocking and sad news. I'm sorry to have just noticed the headline in my blogroll so my well wishes are belated.

I admire Mort's writing so much and have learned such interesting things from reading his blog. I will miss him terribly and do hope that the months of recovery speed by (where? in New Jersey or Florida?).

Please tell him I'm thinking strong and healthy thoughts of him.

    Kind regards to you both,
    Lydia

  15. My best wishes for your rehab and recovery from this accident, Mort.

I know you were planning a move to Fla. Am reminded of the saying: "Life is what happens when we're busy making other plans."

Please remind Mort of how much I enjoy reading his blog accounts and look forward to more when he is able to resume them -- even if only on a limited basis -- or a few words he dictates to someone else -- assuming he might find doing so a pleasant repast.

Tell Mort he really didn't have to go to this length just to get more material to write about here! ;-)

Mort, I think of you and am sending positive healing thoughts your way. You're one of my very favorite bloggers.

Thank you, Sybil, and dtr for letting us know what has happened. I'm sure this is a challenging time not only for him, but for you and family. Do take good care of yourself, Sybil. We'll always welcome hearing news of his recovery.
